Micronauts was the North American name for the original Microman toy line created by Japanese toy company Takara (now part of Takra TOMY) and first released in Japan in 1974 and continues to this day. This line was imported by the Mego Corporation and given the name "Micronauts." The bulk of the line consisted of small 3.75" action figures that were known for their high poseability compared to similar sized toys. It also included vehicles and robots. The magno series of figures, which used magnetic joints and were modular, were derived from the Steel Jeeg toys available in Japan, also from Takara.

Microman was released in three series, two of which were titled "MicroChange" and other home appliances such as guns, radio cassettes, and cameras or mini cars(Micro car series) turned into robots, several of which were transformed into Transformers characters such as Megatron, Soundwave and Bumblebee ect.(They also featured characters such as Optimus Prime and Jazz through a toy brand called "Diaclon." And the toy brand has been rebooted and reissued in 2016.)

The third series is a rebooted series, with the mini figure being reduced to 8cm, but instead added magnets to some parts of the game to increase. Support mecca also added magnets here and there to enhance parts compatibility. And in 1998, the Same name Anime series was aired.

Perhaps because of the reboot of the worldview, only five Micromans, who were dozens of people in the first generation, will appear, while only robotics and giant acroyres, who have redesigned the first generation mechanics, will appear. Instead, he gave a boost to new mechanics such as the Change Troopers, the Five-Stage Integrated Robot (Robotman Dean, Robotman Endeavor), and the Acrobusterman.

And the next year, the "Red Powers" series, which features LED-lit gimmicks and infrared interworking, was released, but the third Microman ended as it failed coolly in less than a year.

In later years, the Micronauts line included an increasing number of Mego-designed toys and accessories that were never available in Japan.
