Allusions:

  • This segment features characters from Darkwing Duck, Pinky and the Brain, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Daria, and Where's Waldo?
  • The "Where's Waldo?" scene is a reference to the mass suicides of various cults, most notably Jonestown.
  • Mesogog now works as a manager at a Wendy's fast food restaurant.
  • The ear on Pinky's back is a reference to the "Vacanti mouse", a lab mouse who had been seeded by cow cartilage cells, causing the growth of a cartilage structure resembling a human ear.

Trivia / Info:

  • This is the first Michael Moore parody sketch which doesn't show him having oral sex with one of the female characters at the end.
  • The name of Reverend Moonrise Sunbeam is a play on the terms Sunrise and Moonbeam.
  • As seen in the deleted animatics on the Season 5 DVD, video game star Earthworm Jim and Doug Funnie from the animated series Doug were planned to be some of the forgotten 90s icons to appear in this sketch, but were ultimately cut from the final version of the episode.

Goofs / Nitpicks:

  • In reality, US Airways Flight 1549 was downed by a flock of Canada geese. Launchpad McQuack is a duck.
  • Gosalyn Mallard is voiced by Seth Green for her line "Dad...?" when the cooked corpse of Darkwing Duck is served to her and Michael Moore, but her shrieking upon Darkwing's head being cut off is provided by Tamara Garfield.
  • Mesogog was the main villain of Power Rangers Dino Thunder (which premiered in 2004) and not the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Simply put, he was not introduced in the 1990's. However, the Red, Pink, and Blue Mighty Morphin' Rangers are seen, but this doesn't entirely mitigate this inaccuracy, as he never did battle with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team.
