The People's Court was the first widely popular American "judge show" in which actual small claims court cases are heard, though the case in the televised context is a binding arbitration, the current judge of the series since 2001 is Judge Marilyn Milian, the bailiff of the series is J. Douglas Michntosh, the announcer of the series is Curt Chaplin and the reporter of the series is TMZ's Harvey Levin. It first ran in syndication from 1981 to 1993 for 2,484 episodes. Reruns continued to air in syndication from 1993-1995. It has currently run in its present format since 1997; the new version aired its 1,000th episode in 2003. It is taped in New York City and Connecitcut. Reruns of the original series can be found on AOL and Warner Bros. Television's In2TV service. like Divorce Court, this show shifted judges if the show gets renewed or revived for an another season, the series is produced by Ralph Edwards-Stu Billett Productions and Telepictures Productions and is distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution however Warner Bros.'s TV arm also co-produced the hidden camera comedy series created by Jamie Kennedy called The Jamie Kennedy Experiment with Big Ticket Televsion producing the aforementioned hidden camera sketch comedy series created by Jamie Kennedy, the revival wins 2 emmy awards and received 9 emmy nominations.
